Massage and Yoga
The combination of Massage with Yoga are two activities that complement each other like salt and pepper or cheese & wine. Both practices help to relieve discomfort and tension to our body and mind.
Massage is a passive (i.e. you don’t have to do the work) style of relaxation without engaging muscles. Yoga is a conscious and intentional involving you moving your body and controlling your breathing.
Yoga: The meaning
“a Hindu spiritual and ascetic discipline, a part of which, including breath control, simple meditation, and the adoption of specific bodily postures, is widely practised for health and relaxation”
Both practises are excellent for managing stress. They both release endorphins (hormones released by the body triggering positive feelings) and enhance mental wellbeing. Most therapist recommend receiving a massage at least once per month in conjunction with yoga practice, which can be multiply times within the same month. Massage therapists may suggest certain stretches or yoga practice in between appointments which help with the long-term benefits of massage.
Massage with Yoga are the perfect combination for your health management because they relax the mind and restore the body, both are healing modalities. Both practices help to boost the natural lubricants in connective tissue, aid a greater range of movement and can make everyday activities feel easier as well as improving posture and even your breathing…
Massage with the addition of Yoga both help blood move through your body, helping to make more room for oxygen rich blood that helps healing muscles. This also helps in lowering blood pressure, which improves overall health and wellness.
Stress takes it toll on your health, yet its part of our everyday lives. Yoga plus massage can both provide the kind of relaxation that results in deeper sleep, better mental and physical performance and higher energy levels.
